(Student self-development and key skills acquisition)
There has recently been focus on the development of key skills for higher education students in order to prepare them for employment and for lifelong learning in the face of fast-moving changes in knowledge. This focus has been especially pronounced following the Dearing Report of 1997.
The DfEE funded seven projects under the theme of key skills. These projects addressed the development, implementation, assessment, and continued monitoring of key skills programmes within higher education institutions.
